Ash Handley says Leeds Rhinos are going after “a trophy or all three” in 2023

Despite being 11th in the league in May, Leeds Rhinos made it all the way to the Grand Final last season after Rohan Smith massively changed things at Headingley upon arrival at the club.

However, it sadly ended in defeat against St Helens but that hasn’t stopped star man Ash Handley and his teammates enjoying pre-season under Rohan Smith, their first under the new coach.

“I’m really looking forward to it, it’s obviously not been that long since the Grand Final loss so we have a bit of a sour taste in our mouths we’ve had a full pre-season with Rohan and we’re enjoying it,” Handley said to Betfred.

“We have a lot of new faces at the club this year as well, which has been refreshing for sure.”

Handley also promised an exciting brand of rugby in 2023: “It’s not just going to be five drives and a kick with Rohan. It’s fun and different. I’m excited for it.”

In terms of success, Handley is gunning for a trophy or all three in 2023:

“Success for Leeds is always winning trophies and if the outside doesn’t think it, then we have always thought it. Success for us is getting a trophy or all three trophies, that’s what it’s going to be.

“We’re going to take it week by week but I think the ultimate goal is to come away with silverware at the end of the year.”
