There is something of a coaching merry-go-round at present.
With the departure of Leeds Rhinos head coach Richard Agar earlier in the season it seems that every man and his dog has been linked with the vacancy.
One of those has been former Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney Rabbitohs boss Anthony Seibold, who has most recently been part of Eddie Jones’ set-up in England rugby union.
However, The Mole at the Wide World of Sports has reported that it isn’t Leeds that he is currently linked with, but Hull KR.
The Mole has referenced Tony Smith’s contract running out at Craven Park claiming that “fellow Aussie Tony Smith is coming off contract at the end of the season and Hull KR officials are considering a change of direction, with Seibold high on their wish list.”
Smith himself has reportedly been close to signing a new deal at the club with the former Leeds and Warrington Wolves boss having been vital in KR’s turnaround from basement dwellers to an incredibly strong Super League side.
Just recently, they were able to overcome neighbours Hull FC in a feisty Hull derby with the Robins now looking the superior of the two sides in the city and are looking forward to a Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield at Elland Road in a few weeks time.
So, any change of direction would be a surprise with Smith appearing like the perfect fit for the Robins at this moment in time.
