Another update on the future of former Hull FC boss after Leeds Rhinos legend takes his role

Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield has taken on a new role as Defence Coach at England Rugby Union helping Steve Borthwick in replacing Eddie Jones.

Jones himself could be headed the other way after speaking openly in the past about a willingness to switch to rugby league and a desire to take on a role at South Sydney Rabbitohs.

He has previously been chased by Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves.

His departure opened the door for Borthwick to take over alongside Sinfield in a £1 million move as Sinfield takes on the Defence Coach role.

But what does this mean for former Hull FC coach Brett Hodgson who recently joined the England coaching staff replacing former Leeds Rhinos coaching candidate Anthony Seibold after he headed to Manly Sea Eagles?

Whilst other England coaches are set to stay on, Sinfield’s role as Defence Coach will leave Hodgson, the current Defence Coach, is in a “precarious position” according to what The Telegraph stated over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the RFU stated today: “The wider coaching team to support Borthwick will be announced in the coming weeks.”

This leaves a massive question mark over the former Huddersfield Giants fullback’s future but with Sinfield taking on his role it leaves big questions.
