ANOTHER Super League fixture in danger of postponement

Catalans Dragons’ away trip to Salford Red Devils could be postponed as a result of COVID.

Prior to the French side’s trip to Warrington last week, four members of Catalans’ essential staff tested positive for COVID-19, throwing that game into jeopardy.

Under the RFL’s Multiple Cases Framework, the Dragons weren’t allowed to travel, but they were not punished in terms of a walkover win.

“The decision to shut down Catalans Dragons with immediate effect (i.e. once the outbreak was confirmed) was made by the RFL’s Multiple Case Group,” the RFL revealed.g.

“The game was postponed and could still be rearranged so talk of a 24-0 walkover is not relevant.”

It’s been a tough old season for Super League in 2021, with barely a week getting by without a cancellation.

The Dragons currently sit top of the table with 16 wins from 18 games, whilst Salford have been resigned to third bottom with just five wins from 17 games.

Once again special treatment for Catalans. What a surprise- Warrington had beaten them twice already this season. If you cannot fulfil a fixture you should forfeit the points-percentages a really bad idea. The sooner Catalan leave Super League the better.
