Leeds Rhinos have been doing it tough in 2022.

With numerous injuries and suspensions littered through every round, new head coach Rohan Smith has worked wonders to get the West Yorkshire side into the play-offs.

That being said, there are a still a number of problems within his squad, including Tom Holroyd who had returned from a ten-match ban only to tear ligaments in his elbow.

Thompson, however, will not be staying at Headingley in 2022 which paves the way for Smith to bring in another overseas player.

“Bodene and I have had several conversations about the future and we haven’t been in the position where we can offer something,” Smith said.

“We get on well as a player and coach and he’s one of the most respected teammates but at the minute we aren’t in a position to do anything there.”
