Another Castleford Tigers youngster becomes the latest to make switch to lower league rebuild

It’s been a busy week for Dewsbury Rams who have been confirming a number of exciting signings.

The Rams suffered relegation to League 1 this year after a disappointing Championship campaign but have begun signing some exciting young Super League players as they hope to bounce straight back to the Championship in 2023.

Last night, the Rams confirmed the signing of Tom Wilkinson from Hull KR after loan spells at Workington Town and Midlands Hurricanes this year scoring four tries in nine games.

This followed the signing of Joe Summers. The forward came through the Castleford Tigers academy and was crowned Academy Player of the Year in 2019 before joining Featherstone where he helped the Rovers win the 1895 Cup in 2021.

That was followed by a move to Hunslet prior to a move to his hometown club and he will be joined by another Tigers academy product in the shape of Caelem Jordan who joins the Rams from Castleford as was confirmed tonight.

He made his Super League debut for the Tigers against Salford Red Devils in 2021.

The Lock Lane youngster is just 21 and has plenty of potential.

On signing for the Rams, the youngster said to the club website: “I’m really excited to be a part of the challenge ahead and I’m buzzing to be a part of the Rams for the 2023 season.”

Head Coach Liam Finn said “Caelum is another player who slipped out of the game after being in the first team squad and struggling at Castleford and struggling for anywhere to play regularly. After being told about numerous people we needed to look at him, needles to say we were impressed enough to want to sign him. He’s a big skilful centre who will cause defences all sorts of problems.”
