Another 5 Hull FC players to leave as things stand amid 2 recent exits

Hull FC players celebrate

Hull FC have certainly had a tough year.

The club have made many changes both on and off the field this year, with people such as head coach Tony Smith and quota players Tex Hoy, Nu Brown, Franklin Pele being sent out the exit door.

Meanwhile, stars such as John Asiata, Jordan Abdull and Zak Hardaker are among a huge number of signings for the 2025 season that will be joining the side led by new coach John Cartwright, as they look to improve on what has been a very poor campaign.

They’re faced with the very real possibility of finishing bottom of the pile this season – while their city-rivals look in a good spot to potentially clinch the League Leaders’ Shield.

Thanks to IMG reforms, there’s no chance of relegation however – and therefore, focus seems to be on 2025, rather than putting all the money, and effort, into salvaging the current campaign.

Captain and one-man player Danny Houghton has been at the club for the best part of two decades, and at 35 years old, it could be that he’s well on his way to retirement.

Many expect this season to be his final as a player, but a decision on this is yet to be made.

Also off-contract at the end of this year is Mitieli Vulikijapani, who has been at the club since 2021 but has never cemented a starting spot on the wing. His injury concerns have meant he’s only played once since 2022, and therefore it seems likely that the Black and Whites will have to let him go.

Another off-contract player with injury concerns is Charlie Severs, whose shoulder issues has meant the 20-year-old has only managed three Super League appearances – and just one this year – although he did make some appearances on loan with York Knights in the Championship.

The final player Hull FC have with their future currently unclear is Carlos Tuimavave: a man with close to 200 appearances for the club, but at 33, his injury issues this year mean the club may decide to let him move on, and to fill his quota spot with someone else.

It’s also expected that Liam Sutcliffe will be in a Huddersfield Giants shirt next year after just two seasons at the MKM Stadium.

Joe Cator‘s contract was terminated by the club last month, meaning he’s free to head elsewhere for 2025.

Meanwhile, Cam Scott has signed for Wakefield Trinity on a two-year deal from next year – after being at Hull FC since 2018.
