Andrew Henderson has honest say on Luke Gale’s Wakefield Trinity move

Luke Gale stunned rugby league fans when he left new club Keighley Cougars after a third of the season to join Wakefield Trinity in their bid to survive in Super League.

Now former Keighley Director of Rugby and now York RLFC coach Andrew Henderson has had his honest say on Luke Gale’s move.

Henderson is unsure if he will deliver the points Wakefield need after they have failed to score in five games this season as well as only scoring more than one try twice.

“Whether he’s going to be enough to post loads of points to win game I don’t know,” he said on The Last Tackle.

“You’d like to think that they will improve with Luke in the side because of what he will bring.

“He’s an organiser, he’s a general, he’ll be able to tell people where they need to be going and what they need to be doing.

“He’s got a strong kicking game and his pass selection is pretty good as well, so if they’re getting to some decent field position hopefully he’ll have the nous to either play.

“The flip side is teams can try shut him down and target him so he still needs a platform to play off, he still needs a middle unit that’s going to generate a little bit of ruck speed.”
