The Super League Magic Weekend for 2025 has been locked in so we’ve looked at how teams have historically performed at the event.
We’ve done that by compiling a league table of how each and every Super League side to compete at the event has fared on those occasions, culminating in an all-time Super League Magic Weekend table.
Over the weekend, the 2025 edition was confirmed with the RFL and Super League announcing that the event will return to St James Park in Newcastle.
That follows a year away from the North-East after Elland Road hosted the 2024 edition, albeit to responses of general disappointment and disdain. That was reflected in the attendance figures with the 2024 edition being the second-worst attended edition.
With Magic Weekend now moving back to May and back to its spiritual home of St James Park, which has hosted the event on seven of the 17 occasions thus far, there are hopes that the attendance could bounce back.
Given the great news that Magic Weekend is back for 2024, we’ve looked at how every team has fared at the event over the years.
All-time Super League Magic Weekend Table
For the avoidance of doubt, the only results considered are those of teams who played at Magic Weekend as a Super League side and when point tallies are equal, win percentage takes precedence
17th: Bradford Bulls – 2 Points
In eight Magic Weekend outings, the Bulls have won on just one occasion and that came all the way back in 2009 against Wakefield Trinity in Edinburgh.
16th: Toulouse Olympique – 2 Points
Toulouse are another side to have won just once but they’re also the only side with a 100% record. During their one season in the competition back in 2022, they defeated Wakefield Trinity 38-26.
15th: Widnes Vikings – 4 Points
Of the three teams with just four points at Magic Weekend, Widnes Vikings rank the lowest as they boast just two wins from their seven appearances.
14th: Leigh Leopards – 4 Points
Leigh’s record is better than that with the club boasting a 50% win rate. Those wins have come in 2023 and 2024 with an impressive 56-4 aggregate score across the previous two events.
13th: Crusaders – 4 Points
The Welsh side won at two of their three Magic Weekends, competing in each of the 2009, 2010 and 2011 editions.
12th: Salford Red Devils – 10 Points
There are two teams sat in 12th with the win percentages of Salford and Wakefield the exact same, both sides winning five of their 16 games at the event. In recent years, Salford have struggled and they’ll face a tough test against Hull KR in 2025.
12th: Wakefield Trinity – 10 Points
Like Salford, Trinity have won five of their 16 games but they’ll make a return in 2025 after not playing at the most recent edition. They’ll take on West Yorkshire rivals Castleford Tigers at St James Park in May.
10th: London Broncos – 10 Points
London also have five wins but they’ve come at a 50% rate across just ten seasons in Super League. They tasted victory in 2024 when they beat fellow strugglers Hull FC.
9th: Hull FC – 14 Points
As referenced, the Black and Whites lost at Magic in 2024 but will be hoping to add to their 14 points next season when they face Huddersfield Giants.
8th: Catalans Dragons – 17 Points
The Dragons were blown out by Hull KR at Elland Road in August but they have a perfectly even record of eight wins, eight losses and just one draw.
7th: Leeds Rhinos – 18 Points
Leeds have ticked just over the 50% success rate with the Rhinos recording nine wins compared to eight losses over the years. Brad Arthur’s side will face St Helens in 2025.
6th: Hull KR: 18 Points
Hull KR sneak above Leeds despite registering the same number of wins and points on account of their Championship season handing them a better win percentage.
5th: St Helens – 19 Points
The Red Vee are another side to feature at every Magic Weekend and that has seen them record nine wins and a draw from their 17 games.
4th: Wigan Warriors – 20 Points
Matt Peet’s side made light work of St Helens at Elland Road as they won 20-0 and that win saw them draw ahead of the Red Vee. Wigan’s record features two draws, against rivals St Helens and against their 2025 opponents Warrington as well.
3rd: Castleford Tigers – 20 Points
Cas are in the top three with ten wins and just six losses at Magic making them one of the event’s most successful sides.
2nd: Warrington Wolves – 21 Points
A win in 2024 over Leeds Rhinos took Warrington ahead of Castleford with the Wire winning ten of their 17 games but picking up a draw in the mix too.
1st: Huddersfield Giants – 23 Points
A surprising leader, Huddersfield Giants boast the most points in Magic Weekend history after clocking up eleven wins, one draw and just five losses. With Hull FC their opponents in 2025, they could extend that record further.
