St Helens got back to winning ways this week as they defeated Warrington Wolves.

It was the perfect response to back to back defeats the latter of which came against Hull KR as their halves, especially the dynamic Mikey Lewis, caused them problems.

It now seems St Helens star Alex Walmsley is a huge admirer of his potential future England teammate.

He said on The Last Tackle:

“He’s an exciting player. Obviously he’s been called up to the England squad which for me is fully deserved. I think he’s an exciting player, he’s someone who can change a game which you want in a half-back.

“Hull KR have a good side as well, it’s a tough place to go to. It’s a hostile environment with the fans and I think they’ll continue the good form at the minute.”

He also reflected on the defeat:

“We were disappointed with some aspects of our performance and I think the frustrating thing was that we conceded tries that were uncharacteristic.

“Sometimes though you’ve got to give credit to the opposition, I think they’re playing very well at the minute and I’m expecting them to keep winning to be honest.”
