Alex Walmsley backing this club to fight for the Super League trophy in 2023

If any player knows what it takes to get to a Grand Final it is Alex Walmsley.

The prop has been part of a Grand Final winning squad on five different occasions winning four Super League titles with St Helens.

The England prop has been impressed by two clubs this season saying Catalans Dragons have gone under the radar whilst he has backed Huddersfield Giants to “be there” at the end of the year given their style of play.

He said on The Last Tackle podcast: “Winning against a Catalans side who for me have been going under the radar a little bit, perhaps due to them not being on Sky as much as in the past.

“They’d been going about their business and picking up the wins so for Huddersfield to pick up a good result against a Catalans who will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season, it’s a good turn for Huddersfield.

“Under Ian Watson they’re a very good, very good side. They play a style of rugby that is hard to play against and I think they’ll probably kick on again and definitely be there.”

Walmsley’s St Helens side got back to winning ways last night without him as they defeated league leaders Warrington Wolves 28-6 as they looked back to their best.
