Albert Kelly opens up on why he left Hull FC

Former Hull KR and Hull FC star Albert Kelly has opened up on his last year in Super League and why he chose to leave the UK for home.

Speaking on The David Mead Podcast, Kelly revealed just how tough it had been in the about his final year with Hull and the events that led to him moving back to Australia.

“When coronavirus came around, I was coming off contract and there was uncertainty over my career and what was next, that was the main question.

“I was in negotiations with a couple of clubs over there and I really just didn’t know what was going to happen.

“I was getting scared, I had thoughts in my head like ‘this could be it, I could be finished to the game’.

“I knew I had a lot left and with the coronavirus and the uncertainty of the game, lockdowns and everything, we just didn’t know what was going on.

“I just knew in the back of my mind that for me to get back to my best, I had to go home – that was a pretty clear picture on what I wanted to do.”
