Though all eyes are presently on the Rugby League World Cup, fans will no doubt be getting excited for the Super League season in 2023, especially Leigh Leopards fans.
Not only does the club have a new club after their recent rebrand, the Leopards have made 12 major signings for next season with owner Derek Beaumont confirming that their signings may not have ended there with Director of Rugby Chris Chester still looking for middle forward ahead of 2023.
Many of their signings are high profile but perhaps the biggest is the arrival of Ricky Leutele from Huddersfield Giants after the Leopards saw off competition from across Super League to secure his signature.
High profile rugby league agent Craig Harrison confirmed this interest on his brilliant YouTube channel Show Me The Money Rugby League TV.
Harrison revealed that there was interest from the NRL as well as an enquiry from the Leeds Rhinos.
He said: “Ricky Leutele that is a sensational signing. Leeds were enquiring about him, Huddersfield are devastated that he’s gone.”
The Leopards already have Nene MacDonald and Ed Chamberlain the latter of which Harrison thinks could cause a real splash in Super League: “He’s sensational, what a player. He’s someone to watch.”
Ultimately, Harrison believes that players like Chamberlain and their new recruits will have Wakefield Trinity worried with the club yet to really get going in the transfer market: “Wakefield will be thinking oh my good god. It’s putting pressure on a lot of people.”
