Adrian Morley to make surprise appearance at local side’s season launch

National Conference League Division 2 side Woolston Rovers will be joined by England and Great Britain legend Adrian Morley for their Annual Season Launch Sportsman’s Dinner which will feature the Hall of Fame Induction on Saturday 5 February.

Previous inductees conducted their voting process for this year and confirmed there will be six inductees due to last year’s event not taking place due to Covid-19.

The Rovers 2022 inductees are John Astley, Derek Bailey, Liam Horrigan, George Hutchinson, Nigel Quarmby and Vinny Webb.

The likes of Adrian Morley, Mark Forster and Chris Riley had pulled on the Warrington shirt once more following their retirement against the Woolston Rovers in 2019, with then head coach Steve Price coaching them.

Morley had won the 2005 Super League title with Bradford and four Challenge Cups – one with Leeds and three with Warrington.

The 44-year-old, who won 30 caps for Great Britain and 23 caps for England, also had a six-year spell with NRL side Sydney Roosters.

“When I look back on where I’ve been and what I’ve done I’ll certainly be very satisfied and proud,” he told BBC Radio Manchester.

“There’s been certainly lots of ups and downs in my career, but more ups than there are downs.”

He helped the Roosters end their 27-year wait to be NRL champions in 2002 and later captained Warrington to Challenge Cup wins in 2009, 2010 and 2012, as well as Super League Grand Finals in 2012 and 2013.
