Adrian Lam says Leigh Leopards are leading the way in this area

Leigh Leopards have been pushing the boat out at every Super League game in 2023 in terms of pre-match entertainment.

That won’t stop tonight as they host Leeds Rhinos at Leigh Sports Village.

Speaking on Leigh’s YouTube channel, Head Coach Adrian Lam claimed his club have the best entertainment at any ground.

“It just gets better and better doesn’t it?” he said.

“I just want to praise our fans because last week it’s a tough place to go to Wakefield and win but to have nearly 1,200 fans travel there on a heap of buses to support us. It was amazing.

“I think because of that the boys are playing well and I think they’ll turn up here in big numbers against Leeds.”

He was asked if it was a distraction at all:

“It’s not really a distraction, it’s a distraction when fireworks are going off and you’re running on and everyone’s buzzing.

“For me personally when I turn up to the game and I park my car, get out and walk into the stadium it’s like an event. It’s unbelievable. It’s been amazing.”

It was then that he said his club are the best:

“There’s a fan zone out the front now and things for everyone to do and it truly is I think the best entertainment at any ground of club in Super League.

“When you turn up here it looks absolutely sensational and you get excited about it so the games at the LSV this year and hopefully for the future are more of an event, rather than a match.

“If we can keep that momentum it’ll keep bringing the fans in and it’s obvious to see Derek is doing a great job at winning fans over and by doing that we’re getting more to each home game.”

Lam also gave his assessment of the season as a whole:

“We’ve got a whole new bunch of players and the whole part about this year for me is the players getting closer as a group.

“We won Championship quite convincingly last year but 13 of those players are new into the group, 15 of those players are gone from last year.

“We’ve had to restart and go from the beginning so that’s been the hardest part of trying to get combinations to form quickly.

“I know it’s going to take half a season to build that at least, and then just build week to week but we’ve got off to an okay start. We’re looing upwards as opposed to behind us at the moment.
