Adrian Lam has provided a recruitment hint in his press conference this week over bringing in an NRL player to Leigh Leopards.
Matt Shaw revealed this week that Leigh Leopards have secured the signing of fullback Bailey Hodgson – seemingly on an immediate deal.
Hodgson made his debut for Castleford Tigers at 18 years-old before signing for Newcastle Knights in NRL.
However, he has since struggled with multiple injuries, only managing a handful of NSW Cup games in 2021 and 2023 – and making just one in 2022.
Now at Manly Sea Eagles, he has finally managed to get a consistent run of games, switching between the fullback and centre positions.
Now, it seems that he’s heading to Leigh Leopards – who have no recognised centres contracted for next season, with none of Ricky Leutele, Zak Hardaker and Ed Chamberlain staying on, as it stands.
David Armstrong has, however, signed for next year in the fullback position, and is on a three-year deal.

Now, Adrian Lam has been asked about whether Hodgson will be signing with the Leopards, and he responded, in a press conference: “You know, it’s an area that the club doesn’t speak about until it’s in play – speculation or rumours.
“So I’ve got no comment on that. That’s something that you’ll need to ask Chris Chester moving forward in the immediate future.”
Although he was initially coy, when asked whether he would be available for the side this year, he responded: “No, he won’t be in this week. He’s not in contention for this week.”
Asked about the year, and responding about the week, suggests that he may well be someone the club could have available after this round’s games, for a congested run of fixtures.
The transfer deadline for signings this year is in early August, so the Leopards, if they haven;t already sorted it, still have time to sign him for the remainder of this season and beyond.
