Adrian Lam explains why Leigh Leopards should be in the top four

Adrian Lam has overseen a brilliant start to the season at Leigh Leopards defying the odds and guiding them to five wins from their opening 10 games.

That leaves them level on points with St Helens in the play-off places.

Asked about the club’s start of the season he said he was very happy with what he has seen so far but explained his side really should be in the top four after losing games he feels they should have won.

“I think very happy with where we are in regards to the table because I think our best rugby is still ahead of us,” he said on the club’s YouTube channel.

“I still think we’ve got two or three levels to go to, so having said that and to be equal sixth at the moment I felt we could have won two more games than what we have done which would put us fourth.

“We’re not far off but I think there’s so much more improvement. We’ll keep our feet grounded at the moment.

“We’re still working hard to being a better club, a better team, both on and off the field.”

Speaking of the off the field stuff, he said:

“I think Derek Beaumont and Neil Jukes have certainly set the bar with the off-field entertainment and who we want to be as an event on game day.

“Chris Chester, myself and all the coaching staff are working hard on taking the team to another level with the rugby and the players are working hard to be a part of the journey this year.

“Ten games in, head’s in a really good place but keep the feet grounded and keep working hard.”
