It would appear that the biggest ongoing Super League transfer saga is over with Adrian Lam seemingly confirming Lachlan Lam’s future is with Leigh Leopards.
Where Lachlan Lam will be playing in 2025 has been a hot topic of conversation for the past few weeks with the Papua New Guinean playmaker’s future uncertain.
That was despite him signing a new contract earlier this year that tied him to Leigh Leopards until the end of the 2025 season, however, it now seems confirmed that he will definitely be playing at the club in 2025 after comments from his Dad and coach, Adrian.
After Lachlan put in a brilliant performance against Hull FC, Adrian was once again asked about his future amidst all the speculation. His response was simple.
“He’ll be here next year, it’s as simple as that,” Adrian confirmed when speaking post-match, per Love Rugby League.
Leigh Leopards secure Lachlan Lam for 2025
It’s a massive deal for Leigh Leopards to manage to retain their star player, particularly when they have been picked off of so many other stars.
The likes of John Asiata, Tom Amone and Kai O’Donnell will all depart at the end of the season whilst Ricky Leutele has not been offered a new contract, meaning four of the club’s overseas players will be departing.
It had been reported earlier in the year by Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks that Hull FC had signed Lachlan Lam as she claimed that the Black and Whites had ‘got their man’.
Just last week, Adrian Lam had refused to comment on the future of his son as he cited club policy not to discuss transfers or contracts.
Lam Jr had himself spoken on the Hull FC links, telling Sky Sports: “We’re working on some stuff at the moment so hopefully we can clear that up in the next week or so.”
It would appear that his father has now ‘cleared up’ the situation.
