Hull KR star Adam Quinlan says he is determined to earn a new contract.
The 27-year-old has been at Craven Park since 2017 and is one of several off-contract players at the club.
Speaking on his future ahead of Sunday’s game against his former club St Helens, Quinlan said: “I would like to stay here. This is my fourth season and I have enjoyed my time here.
“I am still here trying to do my best. Hopefully I will get something sorted, sooner rather than later.
“I just try to go out and put my best foot forward. In terms of any of us wanting a new contract, Tony (Smith) told us to just go out and earn it.
“The scheduling has not been ideal for the team. In the first month, we have only played the one game then that will be followed by six in a month.
“This of course has not helped the guys off contract but I try not to worry about that. I just have to keep on trying to earn a new contract with good performances.”
It has been a busy week at Rovers following the news that Chairman Neil Hudgell will be stepping down from his role at the end of the year.
Having been in charge of the club since 2004, the Australian full-back revealed the news came as a huge shock to the players.
“I was surprised by the news because he is a huge part of the club,” said Quinlan. “He has been here 16 years and has been the heart of soul of this place.
“He will be greatly missed. He came in and spoke to us all earlier this week and we were all surprised by it.
“It is going to be a huge hole to fill. Hopefully we can finish off the season well and send him off on a high.”
