Castleford are set to play Hull KR in a pre-season friendly on the 14th March for Milner’s testimonial and the game will be streamed live on Facebook.
The 29-year-old made his debut for the Tigers in 2010 against Huddersfield. A month later he scored his first try against Harlequins. Since then he’s scored 36 more in over 250 appearances for the Tigers.
The early days of his career saw him operate as a number 9. He and Daryl Clark quickly became a dangerous duo with one starting and the other bringing on impact off the bench. He was awarded the number 9 jersey ahead of 2014 but didn’t feature at Wembley for Cas that season. 2015 saw him play a bigger part for the Tigers following the departure of Clark to Warrington. He was vital to the Tigers again in 2016 as an ever-present but began gradually shifting to the loose-forward role with Paul McShane establishing himself as the team’s number 9.
He made the permanent shift to loose-forward in 2017 taking on the number 13 shirt. It would prove to be a special season as he scored in the Super League semi-final that saw the Tigers claim their first Grand Final appearance. A fairytale ending didn’t follow at the Theatre of Dreams but he’s since established himself as one of the top loose-forwards in the competition even earning himself a handful of England caps.
Well deserving of a testimonial for all his superb 10-year stint at Castleford, he’ll be hoping the friendly against Hull KR will set up the Tigers for every success in 2021. His next game after that will be the Super League Round One clash with top five hopefuls Warrington. Unlike the Super League opener which will be shown on Sky Sports as well as the Our League App, Milner’s testimonial will be streamed live on Facebook. Tigers fans – or anyone who wants to support the impressive forward – can watch the game for £4.99 on Castleford’s Facebook event page for the clash according to the club on Twitter today.
