Adam Keighran has revealed he is in discussions but no decision has been made about his Wigan Warriors future.
The centre is one of a handful of players in the final year of their respective contracts at the Brick Community Stadium alongside Liam Byrne, Jacob Douglas and Sam Eseh, who is currently on loan at Hull FC. However, unlike some of those names, clarity is yet to emerge regarding his next steps and whether he will be a Wigan player next season.
Keighran is in his second season with the Warriors having joined from Catalans Dragons ahead of the 2024 season and so far he has made 40 appearances for the club. He has scored 12 tries in that time and was part of the club’s historic quadruple win last season.
But the Australian is keeping his cards close to his chest on what the future might hold.
“No decisions have been made yet,” Keighran told Sky Sports on his future after playing his part in Wigan Warriors’ 48-0 win over Catalans on Saturday night. “The discussions are underway but I’ll keep that one to myself until we get a bit further into it.”
Adam Keighran hails Wigan Warriors defence v Catalans Dragons
Keighran was part of a Wigan side that swept the floor with the Dragons at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, scoring eight tries and keeping the home side, who were playing their first game since parting ways with Steve McNamara, scoreless.
Despite what the score might suggest, Wigan weren’t at their very best in Perpignan, but they went into the game with a determination to defend well and that’s exactly what they did, claiming their second nil of the season.
On the game, the centre said: “We’ll take that especially that no points scored so that’s probably the biggest achievement o today. It was something we’ve spoken about in the last few weeks, an 80 minute performance and it wasn’t perfect but we made sure we defended well and that was our aim. We got what we needed to done.
“Defending our goal line, we haven’t done that well for the last few weeks. We worked on that this week and we nailed it today.”
He added: “You have to give credit to Hull KR, they’re a good side and they’re being chasing. All we can do is keep winning, keep the most amount of tries out and keep chasing away, it’s all we can do at the minute.”
