After rumours linking Davy Litten away from Hull FC, pundit Jon Wilkin believes that the club would have “lost the plot” if they were to agree to his departure.
Word emerged earlier this week that Litten is on the radar of Wakefield Trinity, with Daryl Powell’s side reportedly offering a six-figure fee for the 23-year-old centre, who has made 65 Super League appearances to date.
Asked this week whether the reports were true, Powell said “no comment”, but didn’t deny whether a switch for 2027 could be on the cards.
Amid all the talk, Wilkin was asked prior to FC’s game against St Helens to state which players he would sell, and who the Black and Whites should build a team around.
Litten was part of the latter category, to which he then implored Hull to retain their exciting outside back, especially considering he is a homegrown talent.
He said on Sky Sports: “If they sell Davy Litten, then Hull FC have lost the plot and they don’t understand what they are as a club.
“They’ve developed a homegrown player who shows passion, intent and an interest in playing for the club that he grew up supporting and he does it with so much vim and vigour.
“If you want to sell him, if you want to get rid of him, then what does that say to your fans because the Hull FC fans have been epic in their support.”
He continued: “Selling Davy Litten is alarm bells for me. You sell Davy Litten, who is the one guy who has stood up for you, him and Zak Hardaker. It’s a wild decision.
“It must be commercially driven because if you could keep him, you would keep him, because he is Hull FC.
“He’s everything you want. He’s a Jez Litten, he’s a Mikey Lewis, he’s a Jack Welsby, he’s a Harry Robertson, he’s a Jack Farrimond, he’s a Junior Nsemba.”

Pundit tips Hull FC star to have made final appearance amid exit rumours
Another FC player in the spotlight this week is Herman Ese’ese, who, despite being contracted until 2029, could leave the MKM Stadium at the season’s end.
An Achilles injury has kept the prop out for a large part of 2026 so far, and since returning, he hasn’t hit the heights of what he showed in 2025.
Ese’ese missed last week’s defeat to Huddersfield due to tonsillitis, and returned this week against St Helens, making 23 tackles, no misses and 72m from 12 carries.
Sky presenter Brian Carney commented on that speculation, stating that the win over Saints could well be his final appearance for the club, amid rumours linking him elsewhere with immediate effect.
“I thought Herman Ese’ese would make a huge difference at Hull FC,” Carney said pre-match. “But I think this will be his last game for Hull FC.
“He’s got suitors and one of the clubs that’s in for Herman Ese’ese will make jaws drop right because it’s not at the bottom of the table.”
Wilkin added his verdict on a potential exit, saying: “I think Herman Ese’ese, if he gets fit and gets himself conditioned, is a threat.
“The reality is he’s not fit. He’s nowhere near match fit. He’s a liability defensively at the minute, and he’s not up for the fight.
“Andy Last spoke about them lacking confidence. You lack confidence when you’re stood there with people who don’t turn up for you and aren’t in the fight for you.”
