A huge 16 players charged by match review panel

Leeds Rhinos battling Warrington Wolves, Wigan Warriors and Hull FC colliding, a relegation Grand Final between Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers and a top of the table clash between Leigh Leopards and Catalans Dragons; this week was a major week in the Betfred Super League.

On Friday night, Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants suffered crushing defeats in their play-off push against St Helens and Salford Red Devils.

Elsewhere Hull FC suffered heartbreak against Wigan Warriors after a Harry Smith drop goal in golden point after a crucial yellow card.

Castleford meanwhile took a massive step towards survival by defeating Wakefield Trinity thanks to a Greg Eden hat-trick.

On Saturday, Leigh were beaten by Catalans Dragons before Leeds edged Warrington on Sunday.

But today the focus shifted onto the disciplinary and there were a few players nervously waiting for the outcome.

Carlos Tuimavave is among them being awarded a yellow card for a dangerous tackle.

Greg Eden could also face a nervous wait for a similar tackle as could Michael McIlorum.

The Catalans Dragons hooker also was guilty of a late hit as was Mike McMeeken and Julian Bousquet.

Teammate Mitchell Pearce could face a nervous wait for a high tackle as well whilst Hull KR star Mikey Lewis could also be in trouble for sliding in.

But who did end up trouble with the panel itself?

Well a huge 16 players were charged. However, only two players have been hit with bans in the shape of Michael McIlorum and Carlos Tuimavave.

The Hull FC skipper has been banned for his dangerous throw and McIlorum for a late hit.

He is one of seven players charged with late contact.
