Harry Newman has his say on whether Shaun Wane should stay as England coach

Leeds Rhinos star Harry Newman missed out on the chance to represent his country in the Rugby League World when injury denied him a place in Shaun Wane’s England squad.

Speaking about this, Newman said: “I want to play in big games and there is no bigger honour than playing for your country. I was gutted to miss out last year through injury.

“Shaun spoke to me, I was gutted to miss out on some big games.”

There has been a big discussion about whether Shaun Wane should keep his post as England coach after they lost in the semi-finals.

Newman had his say: “Yeah definitely think he’s the right man for the job. I’ve had some great conversations with him, I get on really well. He’s a great coach, I think England were unfortunate and didn’t quite get it right but that’s a collective but come the next World Cup we will be ready.”

Newman also gave an update on his injury: “It’s going really well, it has been a tough few months, tough couple of seasons really missing major games for Leeds and the potential to play in the World Cup.

“We are just taking it day by day and we have great staff working with me. I am just looking forward to the new season.

“I am just taking it day by day, week by week. I don’t want to rush anything I have rushed things in the past so I just want to get ready.”
