“A cloud has been hanging over the club” – Wilkin on Warrington’s win over Leeds

Warrington Wolves have laid down a real marker tonight with a thumping 42-10 win over Leeds Rhinos tonight,

They led 30-0 at the break with an amazing first half.

Tries from Matt Dufty, Daryl Clark, Josh Thewlis, Danny Walker and Sam Kasiano had Leeds on the ropes and the result was wrapped up by tries from James Harrison and Greg Minikin.

After the game, Jon Wilkin said he believed that there had been a low cloud hanging over the club that had now been blown away.

“Pressure is like a dark cloud that’s over you, that’s always there what you need is performances like that to blow those clouds away,” Wilkin said on Sky Sports.

“A really low cloud has been hanging over this club, there is more pressure on them this year than last year.

“It was an exceptional performance from Daryl Powell and his new recruits were exceptional.

“It was built on intent from ball carriers and the small things you value in a team.

“They took it to Leeds in the effort areas.”

Meanwhile, England skipper Sam Tomkins was especially impressed by the new signings two of which were his former teammates Sam Kasiano and Josh Drinkwater:

“The three new signings were three of the best players on the field.

“Sam Kasiano got the nickname at Catalans Dragons as the game changer and that’s what he can do. The last thing Leeds would have wanted him coming at you.”
