The Super League fixtures for the 2025 season have been announced so we’ve picked out when the four big derbies will take place so that you can mark them in your calendar. Whether you’re a neutral or not, these are among the biggest fixtures in the Super League calendar.
Derby is a term that can be hard to define and may change throughout different time periods. Some would argue that Leeds Rhinos and St Helens is a derby game, whilst others prefer those that stick to the locality.
We’ve picked out four fixture clashes that we think most fans would consider to be definite derbies and earmarked when those games take place.
The four ‘derbies’ we’ve selected are of course the Hull Derby which is self-explanatory, the Good Friday Derby between Wigan Warriors and St Helens, the Calder Derby between Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity, and the Battle of the Borough between Leigh Leopards and Wigan.
That last one could be contentious but with the stadiums just a few miles apart and the Leopards becoming a more established Super League team, we’ve backed it.
Of those four fixtures, three will be played during Rivals Round which is Round 8 over Easter. Understandably, Wigan cannot play both St Helens and Leigh which is why the Leopards miss out during Rivals Round.
Round 25 is a reverse of Rivals Round meaning those three fixtures are played then once again, whilst Magic Weekend also plays host to a derby as Castleford and Wakefield face off.
