Wigan, by their own admission, are in a rut.
With no win in four games, the Warriors fans are starting to get edgy.
And, in a bid to keep the fans onside, star halfback Jackson Hastings released a statement this morning, stating that the team is trying their best. But, just how did fans react?

Most people didn’t believe that the players had anything to speak up about.

That sentiment was echoed by another fan.
The issues we have, the questions were asking, the commitment we want, the reassurance we need isn’t from the playing group. Read the room.

This is good to see and the fans will appreciate it. However, the silence from the people that the fans really want to hear from is really disappointing. Surely they can see how disgruntled people are at present.

One fan believed that Hastings had nothing to apologise for.
You could not have done any more young man against Warrington. I thought you was outstanding with the right attitude. Wigan will bounce back, every team as a low period,it seems to be unacceptable for Wigan to have a low period. Wigan fan 2nd ,RL fan 1st

Another fan believed that the club was in trouble.

Another fan is disappointed by the silence of those at Wigan.
Gonna be a big hole left when @JackoHastings leaves end of season . He’s trying his balls off in every position possible at the minute . I agree with other comments that lenagan and radlinski been very quiet in 2022 and beyond plans and lack of an “enforcer” type prop and GK

A different fan called on senior players to take more responsibility.
Those 7 young kids are some of our best performers week in, week out. Havard is consistently our best option of go forward, and Pearce Paul has quite literally been our best player for the last 3 games in a row. Senior players seriouslyneed to start picking up the pace.

Another supporter hailed Hastings.
Well said Jackson you are all doing it tough at the moment. The young kids are doing their bit as much as they can. You are a credit to yourself, your family and to our club. A true leader. Xx

Another blasted the recruitment made by the club.
Most wigan fans are rugby savvy enough to realise it’s been men against boys for far too long.
Injuries aside, recruitment in key positions has been woeful meaning players are out of position
Having said that, positional decisions recently have been bizarre to say the least

One fan gave Hastings credit for “fronting up”.
Fair play for fronting up when things aren’t going right. Always gives 100% JH. Hopefully we can start to find some confidence again and quickly!
— David Beeston (@DavidBeeston) July 2, 2021
Another explained why he would miss Hastings.
That’s exactly why he’s such a top bloke will be sorely missed next season has so much passion for the game.
— Craig Platt (@platt22) July 2, 2021
Another hailed Hastings for his statement.
What a gentleman and a from the heart statement was proud to sponsor him @sunbeltrentaluk well said jacko

Another said it shouldn’t have been Hastings’ job to speak out.
Shouldn’t be up to Hastings to speak up. Where are the club in terms of confirming his replacement for example. Management of the club is sorely lacking at the moment. https://t.co/WM1cLPvoL6

One more supporter called on all Wigan fans to stick together.
You can’t ask for a better message than this. Listen, it’s tough to watch for all, but as per any team sport it is the inevitable that there will dips in both individual & team performances. When this happens it’s under scrutiny immediately. Yet, the good times will roll again! https://t.co/2jKb3KEtKO
