Leeds Rhinos, rugby league and nation-wide legend Kevin Sinfield has today broken another fundraising barrier in his 7 in 7 challenge.

He has today completed the Belfast leg of his 7 in 7 ‘Running Home for Christmas’ challenge, starting at Ulster Rugby’s Ravenhill Stadium and finishing at Windsor Park, a football stadium.

It’s a return to Ireland after a run in Dublin last year in his previous challenge raising money for MND charities, including the MND Association.

Yesterday, he ran from Gloucester to Bristol, after kicking the challenge off with a run from Liverpool to Wrexham.

Having done Wales and Ireland, he will tomorrow be in Scotland for a loop around Glasgow before returning to complete the challenge across England.

He’s completing over 50 kilometres every day for seven days in yet another incredible display of courage and respect from the former Rhino.

Prince William has offered wishes of luck via Twitter, saying: “Kevin, Catherine and I just want to wish you the very best of luck for what’s going to be a very gruelling week raising money and awareness around MND.

“What you and Rob have achieved has been incredible and it’s a very fitting tribute to his legacy.

“What you’re achieving again this week I’m sure you’re running with him in your mind the whole way round, so the very best of luck from Catherine and I.

“We’ll be thinking of you all week. Good luck!”

He has today reached the landmark figure of £375,000 in donations, almost half-way towards the fitting end goal of £777,777, and donations can be made at this link.

It is his first fundraising challenge since the sad passing of his friend and long-time teammate Rob Burrow in June, but Rob is certainly there in spirit for Sinfield’s latest gruelling feat.
