“Absolutely shambolic”: Leeds Rhinos react to display against London

Leeds Rhinos players dejected

Leeds Rhinos were made to work for their 17-16 victory against bottom-side London Broncos today, and fans were fuming with the performance.

The Broncos have still only won one game all season – against Hull FC at their home ground, Plough Lane – but were ahead today until 70 minutes were on the clock, when Rhyse Martin went over to level the scores at 16-16.

The Broncos then had two huge chances to win it with a drop goal, but squandered both, meaning the Rhinos were taken to golden point extra-time.

Leeds then bizarrely gave up an early chance to win it, after a poor high tackle from Ethan Natoli, but the Broncos instantly knocked-on, allowing Brodie Croft to win the game for the home side.

Despite the eventual win, the Rhinos were spectacularly poor and save for some really poor decision-making from London, they would have lost the game.

In terms of the scoreline, it was heartbreak for London Broncos, but Leeds fans were furious with the performance from their side, and certainly didn’t hold back with their comments after the game.

There was a certain feeling that it was an incredibly poor performance – and it potentially shows how important the news that Brad Arthur is set to take the job until the rest of the season could turn out to be.

Others pointed out that the game could easily have gone another way.

London looked the better side for much of the game, and with more experience, they would have grabbed an important two points.

The RHinos are still, perhaps, in playoff contention – but they’re lucky to be.

Others used the news from earlier in their response to the result – and although it’s just a joke, they’ll hope there’s no truth in this tweet in the end!!
