$800,000 signing could propel NRL star to Super League destination

The future of NRL halfback Luke Brooks has been unclear for some time.

He was preferred over former Man of Steel and Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils star Jackson Hastings who was allowed to leave the Wests Tigers to join Newcastle Knights as consequence.

But as the Tigers struggle there have been plenty of questions marks especially with the club making moves for the likes of Mitchell Moses.

Now the club are in talks with Manly Sea Eagles stand-off Josh Schuster which could make a Brooks exit even more likely.

Schuster is currently on $800,000 at the Sea Eagles.

Reports  emerged recently that Leeds Rhinos were interested in signing Brooks.

Both of Leeds’ current halfbacks are coming to the ends of their deals and thus there is a degree of uncertainty about the position heading into 2024.

The pair due have plenty of history together playing alongside each other at Canberra Raiders when they finished in the top three of the NRL in 2016.

Both have been Man of Steel nominees during their time in Super League with Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants respectively.

However, their time at Leeds has been up and down.

The two did help the Rhinos to the Grand Final in 2022 but Sezer missed it due to concussion protocols.
