2019 Great Britain Tour in doubt

GB Rugby League

The proposed Great Britain tour of the Southern Hemisphere has been placed in doubt after it has emerged that Australia would rather tour England themselves next year .

The RFL were keen to bring back the famous GB jersey  after feedback from fan groups , stating they would like the sport to follow the Union example of a  home nations tour every 4 years .

Wayne Bennett had already agreed to Coach the side as they looked to arrange tests against Australia and possibly New Zealand , aswell as some games against provincial sides . It would have been the 1st appearance of the All Golds jersey since a 3-0 whitewash of New Zealand in 2007 . The GB jersey was then retired as the International Committee wanted to focus on strengthening the other Home Nations . The last time a GB side competed in a World Cup was 1995 , since then the Home Nations have been represented individually .

Delegates from the Rugby League International Federation are meeting in England over the next few days to discuss the calendar leading up to the 2021 World Cup and the Aussies are keen on travelling over here as they start to prepare to defend the Paul Barriere Trophy .
