Two in at Wigan and more to come pledges Radlinski

Wigan Warriors Chief Executive Kris Radlinski has told fans to expect more signings in the coming weeks after announcing both Jake Bibby and Mitch Clark have signed two and three-year contracts respectively with the club.

Both players, Bibby from Salford and Clark from Castleford, will join the club at the end of this season but the former star full-back has told fans that will be more announcements on recruitment after the coaching situation for next season is finalised.

“Recruitment and retention is a year-long process but it is at this time of year that everything starts to take shape for the following year,” Radlinksi told the club’s website.

“We need to finalise our coaching team for 2020 and more announcements on signings are coming very soon.

“This has been a really hectic period as we are just a few weeks away from moving into our new HQ at Robin Park.

“It’s a development that we are really proud of and we will be announcing opportunities for our fans to look around very soon.”

It is still unclear who will Coach the 2018 Champions in 2020 and beyond with Shaun Edwards changing his mind about taking on the role, current coach Adrian Lam’s contract runs out at the end of this current campaign.

Fans at the DW are hopeful Wigan will go back to Salford to sign Jackson Hastings, but they will have competition from Leeds alongside interest from the NRL.

Hastings is rumoured to be unsure on agreeing a deal with Wigan in particular while doubts remain on next years’ Coach.

The club also announced new deals for six of its current playing roster with Tony Clubb signing a new two-year contract and one-year deals for Joe Burgess and Chris Hankinson.

Also four-year deals for Oliver Partington and Morgan Smithies and a two-year deal for Jack Wells.

The Warriors have had a very disappointing 2019 and sit only four points above bottom placed London, though the club are hopeful results will improve as key players return from injury.
