1895 Cup semi-finals: Score predictions, kick-off times and TV coverage

Semi-final weekend is finally upon us. Concurrent with the Challenge Cup, the 1895 exists to allow clubs outside of the Super League a chance of a big day out in London.

As expected, the two red hot favourites Leigh Centurions and Featherstone Rovers remain and the underdogs who will attempt to get in the way of a Leigh-Featherstone final are Sheffield Eagles and Barrow Raiders respectively.

So, will we get the final we all expect or will one of Sheffield and Barrow head down to the capital?

Barrow Raiders vs Featherstone Rovers

Featherstone could potentially face a difficult trip up to Cumbria, though after a strong start to the season, Barrow have somewhat stalled. Losing key personnel has not helped, though Jarrod Sammut will remain one of the danger men. However, ‘Fev will hope to hold on to their trophy and still possess a big forward pack on top of talent such as Craig Hall, Joey Leilua and Mark Kheirallah, all capable of getting the job done.

Prediction: Barrow Raiders 16-36 Featherstone Rovers
Kick-off time and TV coverage: Sunday 2pm live on OurLeague

Leigh Centurions vs Sheffield Eagles

The Centurions will look to send a message of intent with a thumping win over the Eagles in the other semi-final. Having Caleb Aekins available alongside Ben Reynolds and Joe Mellor will cause the Eagles some serious problems and should be able to cash in on chances generated by their forward pack. The Eagles have talent and are capable of causing a surprise but should be overwhelmed by the Centurions’ superior fitness and experience on the day. But you never know in a cup competition. The Eagles have history of big cup upsets, will they fashion another one today?

Prediction: Leigh Centurions 46-12 Sheffield Eagles
Kick-off time and TV coverage: Sunday 4pm live on OurLeague
