Here’s a recap of this weekend’s results before a look at the ties from the 1895 Cup quarter-finals draw.

1895 Cup round of 16 results

London Broncos 26-16 Dewsbury Rams

London Broncos were the first team to book their place in the 1895 Cup quarter-finals after beating Dewsbury Rams 26-16 on Saturday.

The Broncos ran in five tries, including tries from Marcus Stock, Lewis Bienek, Luke Polselli a brace from Alex Walker, to give them a 26-0 lead at half-time.

It was a proper game of two halves as Dewsbury managed to get the duck egg from their scoreline.

A 53rd-minute score from Tommy Brierley as well as two tries in the last two minutes from George Senior and Liam Copland gave the Rams a more respectable score but it was too little too late.

Batley Bulldogs 12-16 Bradford Bulls

The top of the Championship reigned supreme as Bradford Bulls beat Batley Bulldogs 16-12.

A 57th-minute try was enough to send Bradford through to the quarter-finals but the game was overshadowed as seven cards were shown.

The Bulls opened the scoring after 11 minutes through a Mitch Souter try before Matty Gee added Bradford’s second in the 33rd minute.

Batley added a penalty just before the hooter to give Bradford a 10-2 lead going into half-time.

It took the Bulldogs just three minutes into the second half after Dane Manning grabbed the first try for the home side.

Following Souter’s sin-bin in the 45th minute, Batley capitalised with a Jack Render score in the 51st minute for a 12-10 lead.

Next up for the sin-bin were Elliot Kear and Waqa Blake in the 56th minute with Souter getting his second try just a minute later for a 16-12 lead.

The score remained the same but then chaos enfolded, Batley’s Ollie Greensmith went for 10 in the 69th minute following a high shot before his teammate James Brown was also shown a yellow just three minutes later for a professional foul.

Bradford fullback Tom Holmes and Batley’s Manning were then sent off in the 74th minute for throwing punches following a fracas between both teams, giving an old-school end to the game.

Featherstone Rovers 52-12 Keighley Cougars

Featherstone Rovers fought off an early Keighley Cougars try to win convincingly against the side currently bottom of League 1.

Izaac Farrel got the visitors on the scoresheet first after just six minutes before Caleb Aekins and Jayden Hatton gave the Rovers a 12-6 lead.

The Cougars fought back with a Brad Holroyd try for a 12-12 scoreline after 28 minutes.

Four minutes later, Aekins added his second before Jordan Williams, Connor Jones and Derrell Olpherts all scoring before half-time for a 36-12 lead.

Second-half score for Hatton and Will Jubb as well as Aekins hat-trick try gave Featherstone a comfortable 52-12 victory.

Goole Vikings 16-34 Barrow Raiders

Barrow Raiders fought off a spirited performance from League 1 new boys Goole Vikings to secure their spot in the quarter-finals.

Barrow opened the scoring through a Curtis Teare try before Goole responded with a Josh Guzdek try to make it 6-6.

Following a Brad Walker penalty, the Raiders were next to score through Kavan Rothwell for a 14-6 halftime lead.

After another penalty from Walker, Teare got his second of the game before Goole fought back with Manoa Wacokecoke’s score.

Barrow were in for another try with Tee Ritson scoring on his return to the club and the Vikings responded again as Ben Dent made his way over the tryline.

The Raiders got the final try of the afternoon with Andrew Bulman’s solo effort for a 34-16 win.

Hunslet RLFC 26-28 Widnes Vikings

The tightest game of the round came as Hunslet hosted Widnes Vikings, with the Vikings grabbing a two-point win.

The home side raced into a 10-0 lead in the first 15 minutes with tries from Mackenzie Turner and Lachy Hennaghan before Matty Fozzard and Matt Fleming got the Vikings back in the game for a 12-10 lead.

Hunslet responded with another two tries when loanee Noah Booth scored as well as Hennaghan’s second score of the afternoon for a 20-12 half-time lead.

Widnes were first to score after the break, with Rhys Williams getting a try before Max Roberts scored a sensational solo effort for a 24-20 lead.

Hunslet fought back again with Hennaghan getting his hat-trick try before Widnes grabbed the winning try of the game through Roberts’ second of the day.

Despite Tom Gilmore missing the conversion, the Vikings hung on for the final 13 minutes to secure them the 28-26 victory.

Oldham RLFC 58-6 Rochdale Hornets

It was a tough day out for the Rochdale Hornets, despite sitting top of League 1 as Oldham ran in ten tries to beat the Hornets 58-6.

It was a great afternoon for winger Kieran Dixon as he managed a haul of 22 points, with nine conversions and a try.

Oldham took only three minutes to get the first try of the game with a Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e score before Rochdale’s Dan Nixon grabbed a try and a Morgan Punchard conversion gave the Hornets a 6-4 lead.

That was as good as it got for them as Oldham ran in 54 unanswered points but it did take them until the 28th minute to get their next try.

Jumah Sambou and Iain Thornley’s first-half tries gave Oldham a 16-6 lead at half-time.

Oldham ran riot in the second half with tries from Owen Farnworth, Ted Chapelhow, Pat Moran, Dixon and a Danny Craven double before Thornley grabbed his second score of the afternoon to complete a 58-6 win.

Sheffield Eagles 50-18 Doncaster RLFC

It was the Sheffield Eagles who came out on top over their South Yorkshire Rivals with a resounding 50-18 victory.

Sheffield had the majority of the ball in the first half an hour and scored tries through Kris Welham and Cory Aston along with Aston’s two conversions and a penalty for a 14-0 lead.

Doncaster responded with two tries of their own from Pauli Pauli and Havey Horne before Sheffield’s Corey Johnson’s score gave them a 20-12 lead going into half-time.

The Eagles started the second half brightly with Welham’s second try before Josh Bowden got one back for the visitors, making it a 26-18 lead for the hosts.

Sheffield then ran in four more tries to secure a 50-18 win, with Titus Gwaze grabbing himself a brace, Welham’s hat-trick try and James Glover getting in on the action in the final minute.

York Knights 32-20 Halifax Panthers

York Knights finally gave their fans something to cheer about following their two defeats to start their Championship campaign in 2025.

The Knights were shock 32-20 winners over Halifax Panthers as the Panthers sit second in the league, with York rock bottom.

York started strongly scoring three tries in the first 15 minutes with tries from Levi Edwards, Sam Cook and Jack Potter.

The Panthers responded with debutant Owen Dagnall scoring before Jesse Dee grabbed York’s fourth try of the day to go into half-time with a 22-4 lead.

The Knights were quick out the gates again in the second half, with Taylor Pemberton scoring in the 43rd minute.

York then sealed the victory through a Kieran Buchanan score in the 64th minute before York’s Sam Cook and Halifax’s Jacob Fairbank were both sin-binned in the final minute after a coming-together.
