Wigan secure NRL signature

Wigan have secured the signature of former player Dan Sarginson on a two year deal after a injury hit season down under.

World club champions, Wigan, left nothing to chance when they heard of the availability of the 24 year-old and quickly swooped in to secure his services for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Club legend and current general manager, Kris Radlinski, said: ”We were recently made aware of Dan’s situation in Australia and acted swiftly to secure his return to Wigan.

”A real competitor, Dan was phenomenal in the 2016 Grand Final and put in a performance that will live long in the memory.”

Coach Shaun Wane added: “Dan joined us as a youngster in 2014 who was relatively new to the game and left us as a Grand Final winner and an England international.

“He knows what we’re all about and having spoken with him recently I know just how keen he is to play regularly, compete for honours and get started with pre-season training.”

Sarginson signed for the Gold Coast Titans after an impressive display at the 2016 finale, helping Wigan secure a 12-6 victory over Warrington, which included an assist via a grubber kick. The Centre or Utility back did not have much chance to prove his versatility in the NRL. A shoulder injury keeping him out after just five appearances.

Sarginson said: “I can’t wait to get back to the club I have so many fond memories with including the greatest moment of my career, winning the 2016 Grand Final.

“Although it didn’t work out the way I would have liked due to injuries I’m glad to have had the experience of playing in the NRL. I’m really looking forward to getting back amongst it with the boys and to the new season ahead.”

He will join up with the rest of the Wigan Squad on Saturday to begin his pre-season preparations.
