Billy Slater was stretchered from the field during yesterday’s NRL clash between Canberra and Melbourne after a shocking tackle from Sia Soliola.
The Storm full-back was hit late and high by the former St Helens man after he passed the ball in an attacking move.
Soliola was placed on report but will face serious charges at the NRL judiciary after he was sent by the match review committee without a grading – highlighting the severity of the incident.
Slater gave a thumbs up to the fans as he left the pitch and is showing signs of improvement as he works through the concussion protocols.
NRL referees boss Tony Archer has since released a statement saying that Soliola should have been sent off, with the Raiders lock expected to be handed a hefty suspension when he faces the judiciary on Tuesday night.
