Warrington make bid for James Maloney

Reports are suggesting that Warrington have made a dramatic bid to sign Cronulla’s Premiership-winning stand-off James Maloney.

The Australian international, who is under contract with the Sharks next season, is believed to be unhappy and the Wolves could make him their latest marquee player.

Fellow NRL clubs South Sydney and Newcastle Knights are also keeping an eye on the situation, however Wire have reportedly offered Maloney a bumper three-year deal.

The Rugby League Mole has confirmed on Twitter that they have made a bid for the 31-year-old.

Wolves’ chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick has been in Australia over the past week as the club continue their search to find a successor to departing head coach Tony Smith.

After a season to forget that saw Warrington finish in the Qualifiers, the signing of two-time NRL Grand Final winner Maloney could be a huge statement of intent by the club.
