Vikings favourites for Leigh double

Widnes Vikings 36-10 Leigh Centurions

The Sky Cameras are at the Select Security Stadium tonight as Widnes entertain Leigh.

Both sides have had a week off so have been able to give their tired players a rest, they are also able to bring some key men back into the side with the likes of Mellor and White back for Widnes and Crooks and Vea back for the visitors.

After beating local rivals Wigan last time out Leigh would have wanted to keep the momentum going so will have been frustrated kicking their heels for a week, as for Widnes they would probably have been glad of the chance to get bodies back after a poor loss at St Helens a fortnight ago, the Vikings though are a tough side to beat at home.

This looks like a battle to avoid the wooden spoon but they both have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks.
The Vikings have won their last 2 at home, including a great win over Leeds,  and the Centurions have beaten both Hull and Wigan in recent weeks.
Super League sponsors Betfred make Widnes 8/15 favourites to win this and given their improved form at home that is justified. For all Leigh are gradually finding their feet they’re still conceding far too many points and for all this could be a high scoring affair I think the hosts can win it by more than the 4 point handicap.

Before the win at Hull the Centurions couldn’t buy a win and on a pitch that generally favours Widnes this could be a tough ask. You’d certainly want more than 6/4 for the visitors given their poor form on the road. It’s worth noting that the win at Hull is the only road success for Leigh this season .
I think the Vikings can win this by around 11-15 points and leave Leigh stuck at the bottom of the table.
Widnes are around 11/10 on the Half Time Full Time but in a game where the lead could repeatedly change hands Leigh to be leading at Half Time and Widnes to win at Full Time could be a value fun bet at around 7/1.

Corey Thompson is a good value 9/1 favourite to score the 1st try,  Matty Dawson has been in the tries lately and he’d be my pick for the visitors at around 11/1.

Finally the man of the match, Chase and Mellor head the betting at 13/2 and 7/1, it’s hard to see past these 2 but I’d just favour Chase as Mellor made need the game to get back into a rhythm.
A wide range of options for the visitors but if it’s a high scoring game than Ben Reynolds personal tally could be too high to ignore so I just favour him at 12/1 over Drinkwater at the same price.

Big game tomorrow as Castleford go to Leeds, as always please gamble responsibly.
