Toronto drop more points as Keighley claim unlikely draw

Toronto are now just two points clear at the top of the League 1 Super 8s table after Matty Beharrell kicked a last-gasp penalty to rescue a 26-all draw for Keighley.

The Wolfpack, who lost their first league game to York two weeks ago, led 22-12 at half-time with tries from Richard Whiting, Liam Kay, Quentin Laulu Togaga’e and Jonny Pownall.

Greg Worthington added another in the second half but Keighley responded with tries from Rickie Hawkyard, one in either half from Vinny Finigan and a first half score from Hamish Barnes.

There were scenes of celebration at the end as Beharrell held his nerve to notch over the penalty goal and make it just three points from three games for the Wolfpack in the Super 8s.

They are now just two points clear of Barrow at the top and it’s a result that will cause concern for Paul Rowley.

For Keighley it was a performance to remember having been convincingly beaten by Toronto when they met in the third week of the regular season.
