Full-back – Niall Evalds (Salford Red Devils)
Salford took Huddersfield apart and Evalds played a crucial role. He delivered a man of the match display, scoring a try, and was a constant thorn in the Giants’ side.
Wing – Bill Tupou (Wakefield Trinity)
Scored a sensational try with an 80-meter burst to leave Barba and the Saints for dead. He was a real driving force for Trinity, gaining 202 meters, but in the end his brace wasn’t enough as Wakefield were edged out at the death.
Centre – Anthony Gelling (Wigan Warriors)
Marked his 100th appearance for the Warriors with a commanding performance. Gelling scored a brace, made three clean breaks and gained an impressive 193 meters.
Centre – Kris Welham (Salford Red Devils)
The Red Devils delivered a fine team performance and Welham certainly played his part. He claimed his 100th career try with a well taken brace to help end Salford’s eight-match losing run.
Wing – Manu Vatuvei (Salford Red Devils) *
‘The Beast’ once again made his presence felt, showing tremendous strength to claim a brace in the demolition of the Huddersfield Giants. As always, he was the driving force for the Red Devils, gaining 148 meters.
Stand-off – Ben Roberts (Castleford Tigers)
Immense in the middle of the park and Leeds found it very difficult to get to grips with him. Roberts made an important contribution with two tries, seven tackle busts and three clean breaks.
Scrum-half – Gareth O’Brien (Salford Red Devils)
St Helen’s talented youngster Danny Richardson had a strong claim but O’Brien just edged it having made an effortless switch from full-back to scrum-half. He produced a superb individual performance, kicking eight goals and it epitomised a clinical display from the Red Devils.
Prop – Luke Thompson (St Helens)
Having committed his long-term future to the club earlier in the week, Thompson proved his worth to the Saints with a strong performance. He gained 145 meters and completed 37 tackles to help his side see off Wakefield Trinity.
Hooker – James Roby (St Helens)
In a match where the Saints really needed to dig in, Roby put in a real shift. He helped keep them in the game, with an impressive 49 tackles completed, and his hard work was rewarded in the end.
His contribution proved vital for the Warriors, as their win over Hull FC saw them move into the semi-finals spots with two games remaining. Bateman made 101 metres, completed 27 tackles and scored a try as Wigan secured the two-points.
Second-row – Alex Foster (Castleford Tigers)
It was a tale of two halves for Castleford in their win over Leeds. Foster was one of those that caught the eye in the first half, scoring a try in a period of the game where the Tigers just had too much for the Rhinos to handle.
Loose-forward – Tyrone McCarthy (Salford Red Devils)
The 29-year-old has fitted in nicely since joining Salford and produced one of his strongest performances to date against Huddersfield. He completed 25 tackles, gained 100 meters and also helped himself to a try in an emphatic win for the Red Devils.
