Super League clubs eye Holmes after Featherstone release

Featherstone have confirmed that scrum-half Tom Holmes has been released by the club.

The former Castleford man is the second player to leave the L.D Nutrition Stadium this week, after Gareth Hock was also released from his contract on Monday.

Holmes joined Featherstone from West Yorkshire rivals Castleford at the start of 2018 and went on to make 18 appearances before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Halifax back in May.

The 22-year-old has reportedly been targeted all season by numerous Super League clubs, which is believed to be what has triggered his decision to leave the Rovers.

Huddersfield are understood to be the favourites for his signature but Wakefield, Hull FC and Hull KR are also keen to add him to their 2019 squads.
