Chris Sandow: I did the wrong thing to Warrington

After it was announced he would not be returning to Warrington Wolves this week, Chris Sandow has put his decision to leave down to family but admitted he dealt with the situation badly.

The Wolves were informed on Monday that their marquee player had decided to remain in Australia and not return to the club, but they were informed by his agent and not Sandow himself.

However, during an interview on Fox Sports last night the half-back said that although Warrington were a good club and he had dealt with it wrong, he just needed to be closer to his family.

“Nothing happened, I just got really comfortable coming back home,” he said.

“All my family and friends are here in Australia, I’m really happy to be back home. Where I come from it’s just really hard to talk up, especially with big things like this.

“I shouldn’t have done that and Warrington is a great club. I have done the wrong thing, but family comes first and I don’t have much support in England with family.

“There are no NRL clubs knocking on the door but it would be an honour to come back and play in the competition, but I’ve got this boxing to sort out first and then we’ll go from there.”

Sandow takes on fellow half-back and former Catalans playmaker Todd Carney in a charity fight on December 9 in Sydney, the event is headlined by Paul Gallen who takes on Junior Paulo.
