Sam Tomkins could be out of action for a further two months after suffering a setback in his recovery from a broken foot.
Wigan’s star full-back sustained the injury last year and is yet to feature for the Super League champions so far this season.
Warriors head coach Shaun Wane revealed to the media today that the England international may require another operation as he is still struggling.
“He tried to run with the plate and he’s still struggling so we’re debating whether to take the plate out or not,” Wane said.
“If that happens, it’s six to eight weeks. We’re having a chat to the physios and the specialist.
“I felt personally gutted when he tried to run last week and struggled with it, I could see he was down.”
