Salford sign Todd Carney

Carney refused number 99 shirt

Salford Red Devils have announced the signing of former New South Wales half-back Todd Carney for the 2017 season.

Carney, who has spent the last two season’s with the Catalans Dragons, has been a free agent all summer with speculation recently linking him with a move to Newcastle Knights.

However, it has been announced that he will play for Salford from 2017 as he looks to build on the nine tries he scored in 33 appearances for the Dragons in Super League.

The former Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters and Cronulla Sharks playmaker has been plagued by injuries over the past few seasons, but Salford owner Marwan Koukash will be hoping he can stay fit and return to the form that saw him win the 2010 Dally M Medal.
