Hull KR sign Carney, Salford land Hasson

Carney eight-match ban

Hull Kingston Rovers have completed the signing of Justin Carney from Salford Red Devils on a deal until the end of 2018.

The 28-year-old is currently three matches into an eight-match ban but will be available in time for the Super 8s Qualifiers as the Robins bid for a return to Super League.

Meanwhile the cap space created by Carney’s departure has allowed Salford to sign utility forward James Hasson from Parramatta Eels.

The Irish international was part of the Manly Sea Eagles squad that made it to the 2013 NRL Grand Final and will add some needed squad depth to the Red Devils forward pack.

Coach Ian Watson told the club’s website: “James is a player that adds some real competitiveness to our squad. We’ve had some injuries to our middles with Adam Walne and George Griffin, and James is exactly the kind of player that can step into that role. His NRL experience with Manly and Parramatta will be invaluable.”
