Salford ask fans for money to buy players

As they prepare to fight for their lives in the Super 8s Qualifiers, Salford have appealed to their fans to helps raise funds before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The club have struggled financially this year since the departure of owner Marwan Koukash but were able to bring in Jackson Hastings from the NRL last week.

Sponsors of the club Capricorn Security have launched a squad-building fundraiser alongside Salford fans in a bid to improve the squad for the most pivotal part of the campaign.

Capricorn Security Director Paul King told PA: “We are huge fans of the city, the people and the club so we are delighted to have the opportunity to kick off this squad builder with the opening donation.

“We are asking the club’s fantastic supporters to rally around and contribute as much as they can before transfer deadline on Friday.”
