Salford 9/2 to shock Saints

Well finally we’re at the end of a super 8 process that seems to have gone on forever.

Saints travel to Salford for their final game knowing a win will guarantee them a semi final at either Leeds or Castleford.
Whoever invented this every game matters tag didn’t think of the Red Devils who have been out of contention for a couple of weeks now but will surely want to go out on a high.
Saints look set to name the same side that beat Huddersfield last week whilst Welham comes back in for the Red Devils.
The bookies have all but written off Salford for this one as they get a 16 point start on the handicap. Not surprising considering they’ve only won one of their 6 super 8 games so far. All but one of the losses being  by more than 16 points.
They are a massive 9/2 to win the game but only have pride to play for.
Saints have got back on track winning their last 2, but were lucky to beat Wakefield last time out on the road and lost 3 in a row prior to that, so they’re hardly in the best of form themselves.
They should get home as surely they’ll want it more but no way are they 1/7 favourites given recent form.
They comfortably beat a poor Huddersfield last week and were exceptional at Castleford in the 1st round but since then have struggled.
9/2 is a tempting price for a shock but the experience of the likes of Roby should get the Red V home  I do though think the hosts can stay inside the 16 pout handicap,  an away win by around 6-10 points is about where I see this ending up in a game where it could be better to leave well alone. It’s certainly not one that gets the pulses racing.
Barba started showing real form last week and is 9/1 joint  favourite to score the 1st try with Regan Grace and Tommy Makinson. Lomax looks much better value at 18/1,  Vatuvei hasn’t hit the heights in Super League so far and is 18/1 to score 1st in front of the Sky Cameras.
Finally the man of the match,  Roby got player of the year for Saints again earlier in the week and is a real danger here but this could be the right time to go for Ben Barba,  if he scores a couple the Sky team will jump at the chance to give him the award. As for the hosts,  Sa’u and Murdoch-Masila are real threats but Robert Lui could just sign off the season in style so it’s Lui and Barba for me.
Hull visit Castleford tomorrow, as always please gamble responsibly
