Rovers 5/2 to beat Castleford

Rugby League Thursdays return this week, weather permitting, as the Sky Cameras are at KCOM Craven Park for the visit of Castleford.

Obviously with this one it could pay to keep an eye on points lines as the weather could lead to a very low scoring affair, lines won’t be out until tomorrow though and will surely take this into account.

The Tigers have recovered from an opening day thrashing at Saints to beat Widnes and Hull in their last 2 games whilst Rovers have had an inconsistent start with a win over Catalans sandwiched between 3 defeats, last week’s loss at Salford being by far the worst.

Unsurprisingly the bookies make last year’s League Leaders 8 point favourites to win this and that looks spot on. If the cold really bites it could be closer than that but the 2/5 odds for an away win are justified.
After last weeks shambles it’s hard to see the Robins landing odds of around 5/2 and winning this one but they will surely improve after a rocket from Coach Tim Sheens. That said Castleford are surely a cut above and can win this one by around 6-10 points, the value probably being an away win by 1-12 points at around 15/8. They seem to have put the opening day blues behind them and look alot stronger than today’s rivals.
The 2/5 for an away win can be increased to 8/11 on the Half Time Full Time, but on a cold low scoring night a good value fun bet could be 13/2 with Paddy Power or Betfair that the game is level at either half time or full time.

Also surely with points at a premium both teams will look to take the points on offer, so around 7/1 looks OK for the 1st scoring play to be a penalty. If you can’t find this back both teams to half your stake.

My 1st try pick would be Michael Shenton at 14/1 and surely Luke Gales kicking game could see him land the 11/2  man of the match odds ahead of Jamie Ellis at 12/1 , Shaun Lunt would  be my pick in Rovers colours at 14/1 .

If you’re going tomorrow wrap up warm, as always please gamble responsibly.
