Richard Owen not guilty

Former Wakefield and Castleford winger Richard Owen has been found not guilty of committing sex offences against a woman at Leeds Crown Court today.

The Yorkshire Post have reported that the 27-year-old was found not guilty of three offences of assault by penetration and the jury also unanimously found him not guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The alleged offences supposedly took place at a house in Castleford in November last year with the woman also accusing him of stealing two mobiles and an iPad.

Having left Wakefield last October, it remains to be seen whether Owen will return to Rugby League having been cleared of the offences.
