RFL charge 7 players following weekend’s games

In a busy week for the RFL’s Match Review Panel, seven players have been charged and three cautioned following Round 4 of the Super 8s.

Catalans Dragons’ Greg Bird has been cited for a Grade D dangerous throw during his sides victory against Halifax yesterday.

The veteran Australian forward could miss the rest of the season if found guilty, having already used his Early Guilty Plea (EGP) earlier in the year.

Hull FC duo Gareth Ellis and Steve Michaels, who both have their EGP available, face Grade B charges for incidents during their match against Leeds on Thursday.

Ellis was sin-binned for a crusher tackle on Stevie Ward and could face further punishment, while winger Michaels is cited for striking with the shoulder.

From the same game, Rhinos’ half-back Rob Burrow (EGP available) is charged with a Grade B head butt that went unpunished during the match.

The other three players charged this week are Ben Reynolds (Grade B), Danny Walker (Grade A) and Ben Johnston (Grade A) – All three players have been cited for tripping and have their EGP available.

Three players were also cautioned by the Match Review Panel:

Micky Higham (Leigh Centurions) – Dangerous Contact

Ryan Atkins (Warrington Wolves) – Strikes

Thomas Leuluai (Wigan Warriors) – Kicking
